Sunday's game proved to be a disappointment for the barnstormers. 3 points went begging as the team never really showed up on the day, and a mediocre AC Hatherley managed to squeeze a crucial goal past an off form Barnstormers FC. The all round performance was reasonable at times, and although the Barnstormers had the edge with possession, the caketaker proved to be as nimble as the wind. Deadlock in midfield, with few real chances for either team, it did not make for a good game. AC Hatherley used their rugby style approach to muscle the win.
BARNSTORMERS FC (0) 0 AC HATHERLEY (0) 1

So after the glory of last week, its been a bit of a sour time for the Barnstormers. But heads are high for next week's game, as we anticipate a return to form after a poor gameweek.
I cant be arsed to do the fantasy thing by the way. Full focus on the real task at hand. If we pull our finger out we should take 3 points from this fixture. There's a Barnstorm brewing.
This sunday's game:
THE JUICE FC v BARNSTORMERS FC
Kick off : 5.35pm, Sunday 20 Sept.

Match Report - Gameweek 1
The season's fixtures have arrived, and it makes for an interesting read. Apologies about some errors with the fantasy points, i will make sure they are correct for the end of matchweek 2.
Sundays game proved very fruitful indeed. The barnstormers stamped their authority in style with a dream performance. An all round great performance from every player, thats what we like to see. We anticipate the return of Manders soon, and look forward to seeing Boyden play his first game in the Barnstormer colours.
BARNSTORMERS FC (1) 3 CHELTENHAM UTD (0) 0
Johnson 4, 24 Att;17
Hawkins 18
Some beautifully worked balls from defence through to the front men exposed Cheltenham Utd's cracks early on, as strong performances from the back 3 nullified most of Utd's attacks. Great strike-partner link-ups between Gore/Hawkins and Spalding/Johnson lead to clinical finishes and a hatful of keeper testing spanks. Short showed his creative side with penetrating through-balls and Jordan held fort well with a couple of cracks at goal. Coltman (Captain) kept a strong line of defence and won most challenges to fend off Utd's pressure. Our new keeper, Holder, showed us what he was made of. Although rarely tested, he proved to have safe hands and kept a clean sheet on his debut.
The goals were high class. Johnson tallied 2 to his name, with a clinical acute-angled shot across the face of the goal to finish the game in style. Hawkins also got on the scoresheet with a confident slot past the keeper, running on to a great through ball from short. Spalding had a strong dominance upfront, and Gore had a last minute chance that could have been a goal of the season contender, which just missed the target. They will be keen to get on the scoresheet next week.
Cheltenham Utd could well be a team of the future, and are predicted to become a stronger team as the season progresses. But on the day, the Barnstormers were on fire and comfortably took the first game, 3 points in the bag.
This sunday's game:
BARNSTORMERS FC v AC HATHERLEY
Kick off : 6.45pm, Sunday 13 Sept.
Ideally we should take 3 points from this game if we can keep the form and trouble the caketaker. Please don't drink too much saturday night if you can help it.

Newsletter 05/09/09
The season is officially underway tomorrow evening, fixtures for the first week's games have been confirmed. Currently, this season hosts 10 teams, plus two more pending. This should make for an interesting season, with some new teams, plus old rivals.
Our first game is SUNDAY 6th SEPTEMBER - KICK OFF 5.35pm
Week 1 Fixtures
5.00pm UNDERDOGS v THE JUICE FC
5.35pm BARNSTORMERS v CHELTENHAM UTD
6.10pm AJAX TREESDOWN v AC HATHERLEY
6.45pm PIMP MY SIDE v PRIORS FC
7.20pm DESPERADOS v DREAM TEAM
Texts have been sent out today; we have a first team squad of 10, but we are limited to 3 substitutes under league rules, so a maximum of 9 players can play each week. If we have full attendance to any games then unfortunately a player will have to miss a week. We intend to keep it fair, so will rotate this, and subs, to keep it as even as possible. If you miss a game one week due to full squad, you will be guaranteed a starting position in the following game.
The official 9 for tomorrows game will be announced lunchtime tomorrow.
